Competition

Handmade With STEAM

Handmade With STEAM is a project-based competition that encourages students to innovate with the support of an industry mentor.

Handmade With STEAM

Handmade With STEAM is a project-based competition designed to empower students aged 11-16 (Years 7-11) to apply their knowledge in a real-world setting. This is a chance for your students to become innovators, guided by an industry professional.

Students will select from 5 compelling project briefs, each with a focus on real-world problems—from creating a device to collect pond rubbish to designing a hydroponic system for small-space food growth. They will then be paired with an industry mentor, giving them direct access to real scientists and engineers and exposing them to cutting-edge concepts not typically taught in school.

A £50 budget is provided per successful participant for materials, and teachers act as the key point of contact. This is an ideal opportunity for students to discover their skills through hands-on experimentation, free from the fear of failure.

Registrations of interest close on 17 October 2025. Help your students apply their learning, build their confidence, and make a real impact.
