Visit the National Railway Museum in York, and test your students' engineering skills with the Streamlined in Design show and the Wonderlab Gallery!
Streamlined by Design is a 20-minute show that explores the relationship between shape and speed. Can the right shape can make a train go faster? This show explores the force of air resistance, how engineers have worked to overcome it, and how nature can sometimes inspire design for faster, more efficient locomotives.
Wonderlab: The Bramall Gallery is an unmissable new interactive experience for schools—where nothing is off limits. Pupils will play their way through 18 interactive exhibits and fuel their curiosity with amazing live experiments to learn the science and engineering behind the railways. Test their engineering skills as they step into the human wind tunnel, launch a rocket and build big.
The gallery enriches learning across the themes of Magnets, Forces, Energy, States of Matter, Maths, Science, Design and Technology.
