The Neon bursary scheme

Neon brings STEM to life through real-world engineering. Explore our brilliant experiences, inspiring careers resources and case studies that showcase modern engineering.

We're offering £550 primary bursaries and £750 secondary bursaries to schools that meet the EngineeringUK EDI criteria

The bursary

The aim of the bursary is to enable young people from groups who are currently under-represented in STEM professions to participate in STEM engagement programmes.

Please ensure that all students are encouraged to participate, not just those already interested in engineering and tech or other STEM careers. We are particularly keen for schools to include girls (recruit a 50:50 split if possible), SEND students, students from minority ethnic backgrounds (particularly Black and Black British students), and free school meal recipients.

The bursary can be spent on the following:

  • Kit/activity - paying for an experience listed on Neon; digital or in-person activities to enhance a Neon experience; purchasing or leasing equipment, materials or resources which is specifically needed for the Neon experience
  • Travel – travel to a Neon experience
  • Staff – teacher or technician cover
  • Other – this can be specified in the application form
