The Engineering Experience is a 1 day STEM competition which gives learners the opportunity to research and make prototype solution to real-world engineering problem which will be introduced by the provider.

Available throughout Wales and Borders, the experience will enable learners to experience working as an engineer, provide opportunities to participate in hands-on activities and gain an understanding of the benefits of careers within science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).

The experience is available in English and Welsh.

Learners will complete in teams of 5 or 6 to win the competition on the day.

All materials will be provided.

Capacity: 40

Cost: £800 for the full day

Learning outcomes

  • Improve engagement, interest or enjoyment in STEM subjects

  • Improve attainment and progress in STEM subjects

  • Learning what the engineering workplace is like

  • Develop engineering employability skills

  • Improve awareness and aspirations for STEM-related study and careers

  • Challenge stereotypes by showing the diversity of disciplines, people and skills involved in engineering
