Workshop
LEGO Robotics challenge activities with robots provided by BJPCE Limited. Ideal for students aged 6 to 10 years old. Themes include mechanisms, stories, sport and adventure.
Format
The day is organised around 3-4 sessions of 60-90 minutes each with up to 40 students working in pairs.
In a session, pupils are taught how to build a model and program it to do some simple tasks. Each model includes a motor and either a motion or tilt sensor so the character can react to its environment. The instructions are entirely pictorial so any level of language skill can participate equally.
Requirements
BJPCE provides up to 20 programmable LEGO WeDo kits for the pupils to use (in pairs).
Each pair will need a laptop/PC for the programming software and a desk for robot assembly. BJPCE Limited will provide instructions on how to download free software to school computers before the activity day. Laptops can also be provided at additional cost.
Cost
The cost is typically £650-£1000 per full day depending on numbers and distance from Surrey. Grants are occasionally available to subsidise the cost - please enquire directly with BJPCE Limited.
