A hands-on robotics workshop where Y7-Y9 students design, build, and code LEGO robots to solve real-world challenges.

Intermediate STEMbotics - Block Coding Robotics Workshop

Bring STEM to life with this hands-on robotics workshop by Hyett Education where students design, build, and code LEGO robots to solve real-world challenges. Suitable for Years 7–9 and equivalent all across the UK, this experience blends computing, design technology, and science curriculum links.

Students work in teams using motors, sensors, and bespoke challenge mats to tackle engineering problems. Coding is done via a Scratch-like interface, reinforcing key computing concepts such as sequencing, selection, iteration, and—if time allows—functions and variables.

Workshop formats include:

  • Taster (4×1hr): Up to 240 students/day (working in threes)
  • Standard (3×90min): Up to 180 students/day
  • In-Depth (2×2hr): Up to 120 students/day
  • All-Day (1×4hr): Up to 40 students/day (pairs only)

Space requirements:
Best delivered in a hall with 4–6 challenge mats (each 4m×2m). Classroom versions are available but offer limited activities.
