Through the context of cyber security and careers in cyber, the active Code Breaking workshop provides children the opportunity to explore methods of encoding and decoding messages, including a look back at approaches used in medieval and Roman times, and during the Second World War. During the workshop, students will code their own wearable physical computing device called the micro:bit, then work in teams to hunt for hidden codes to transmit to their peers at base camp. They will learn essential coding skills such as sequence, selection, and iteration.
The workshop is free to schools in the following priority areas: Swindon, Swansea, Bristol, Birmingham and Wigan.
Where possible, the providers try to make this experience free to any school, but this is dependent on volunteer location. By contacting the provider directly they will be able to advise of any costs.
