Workshop

Cars Maths in Motion F1 Simulation Day

Students work in teams to set up virtual racing cars and then compete against each other in a Formula 1 Grand Prix simulation.

Cars Maths in Motion F1 Simulation Day

The Challenge involves students working together in small teams of 2-4.

These teams set up virtual racing cars and then compete against each other in a Formula 1 Grand Prix type race.

The early stages are offline measuring the track with rulers, string and protractors.

Teams then work together online to set up their car, run practice laps, decide their pit strategy based on the weather and, finally, to compete in one or two races.

Requirements

The workshop works best for students aged 10-14 years old, but is suitable for age 9 up to 18 years old.

The workshop can be delivered to a maximum of 120 students per day.

For large groups a gym/hall is ideal but adjacent classrooms work well provided there is enough room for everyone to “squash in” to a larger area to watch the race.

Each team needs one device with a reasonable size screen with an internet connection (PC/laptop/tablet/iPad).

Cost

The cost is £650-£1050 per full day depending on numbers and distance from Surrey. BJPCE Limited can deliver activities outside of the South East either virtually or at an additional travel cost. Grants are occasionally available to subsidise the cost - please enquire directly with BJPCE Limited.
