As a Neon provider, you can target local schools and tailor your listings to reach those with a higher proportion of students who are underrepresented in STEM.
It’s completely free to list your activities on Neon – we just ask that you comply with our quality standards so schools get only the best experiences.
We want STEM teachers and their students to enjoy the very best STEM experiences, so we only feature experiences that meet our quality criteria.
Experiences that meet Neon quality standards:
Neon experiences vary but they must all enrich or complement the curriculum, and help students understand more about careers in science, technology, engineering and maths.
Experiences must be classed as ‘informal learning’ and can be delivered in schools, online, or at external venues.
Here are some examples of the different types of experiences we feature on Neon:
Workshops: Practical activity sessions (as a one-off or a series)
Speakers: Visitors with inspiring stories to tell
Projects: Challenges where students research and display their findings on a specific topic
Competitions: Challenges with a time limit, a set of criteria for judging and a winning team or individual
Events: Fairs, festivals and exhibitions for learning away from the classroom
Trips: Inspiring visits for students to immerse themselves in engineering
Neon providers can specify where their activity is available and which schools can access it. This can be by postcode, town, region, local authority – even by country or nationwide.
You can also add search criteria such as student age, experience type, length, cost and how you deliver. Plus, Neon lets you to target your audience based on whether a school is an EngineeringUK Priority school, so your efforts are directed where they’re needed most.
By targeting your audience you’ll only get referrals from schools where you deliver your activity.
