HS2 is the new railway that will be the backbone of Britain’s transport network. By helping to bridge the north-south divide it will build a country that works together. The new railway will free up space on congested rail lines. This will relieve overcrowding and improve reliability for millions of people using Britain’s railways.
HS2 is addressing the current skills shortage in the UK by inspiring the next generation to get involved with transport infrastructure related careers. We are promoting science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM) subjects through our secondary education programme, to help young people develop the skills they need to be able to take advantage of the employment opportunities created by HS2 and other major UK infrastructure projects.
