Our 'Girls into STEM' programme of events aims to encourage female students to take an active interest in STEM subjects prior to their GCSEs.

Visits are arranged for groups of 8 to 45 students to a company or university department.

Programmes include:

an introduction to the company/organisation
a site tour
practical hands-on activities
inspiring talks by role models in STEM

Visits allow students to gain an insight into how the company operates and to develop an appreciation for different working environments. Students meet employees who'll talk about their background and roles within the company.

Students will also be encouraged to relate their observations to their school subjects - particularly STEM - and discuss how their choice of GCSE subjects will influence their own possible career path.

Capacity

Minimum of 8 participants, maximum of 45 participants.

Cost

Schools will need to provide their own transport and provide a supervising teacher for the duration of the visit.

Duration

Each event is either a half-day or full-day visit, and includes a site tour, presentation from role models in engineering, as well as a practical session.
