Energy Quest is a free workshop for students designed to unlock their inner engineer as they explore sustainable energy sources.
Designed for secondary students aged 11 to 14 and run by a remote facilitator, Energy Quest will unlock students’ inner engineer as they explore sustainable energy sources.
Funded by Shell this curriculum-linked and newly developed, free digital workshop challenges young people to put themselves in the shoes of engineers to design a solution to power a mobile phone.
During an interactive workshop, students are immersed in a real-life situation and challenged to save the day. They get the chance to meet real engineers and are supported to explore their own skills sets as they learn to use the engineering design process.
Energy Quest is fully linked to the curriculum and students gain an understanding of a range of sustainable energy sources and the role engineers play in green energy/sustainable technology, how to generate energy, and how they can work.
The experience supports young people to join the dots between engineering skills, jobs and energy in a way that is relevant to them. Where possible, engineers will join the session to share how their personal passions led them to their role. These volunteers will also be ready to answer questions from students to bring engineering to life.
Energy Quest is a 2-hour workshop, delivered by a trained facilitator.
