Collection

Basic engineering careers collection

A free, low-resource collection that introduces your students to engineering and technology careers over 2 terms.

How do I use this collection?

Follow these 6 simple steps, you will find links to the experiences and resources in the tabs.

Autumn term

  • First, kick off with EngineeringUK's Engineer Your Future presentation. The fully editable slide-deck will help you inspire your students about a career in engineering.
  • Second, order our free Green engineering careers posters for your classroom. A set of 6 inspiring green engineering careers posters showing how engineers transform the way we travel, eat, use, power things, build and breathe. Includes suggested discussion points and homework tasks.
  • Third, take part in the CREST Bronze award. CREST Bronze projects are the perfect introduction to STEM project work! They focus on fun and transferable skills, whilst providing the real-life experience of ‘being’ a scientist.

Spring term

  • First, share our leaflet Engineering and Technology, the key to the future with your students. You can download the leaflet free of charge from the link below.
  • Second, take part in one of the I'm a Scientist, Get me out of here activities. I'm a Scientist supports students science capital. The activity introduces students to science professionals with whom they share personal interests and opinions. Students make connections between science and their own lives, helping them see that science, and by extension, a science-related career, could be for ‘someone like me’.
  • Third share a link to the case studies of engineers we host on Neon. Ask them to use the filters to find a case study of an engineer working in a sector that excites them, watch it, and feed back to their peers three things about them. The case studies are here.

Optional extras!

Got some spare capacity? You could book a STEM Ambassador to come into the school and support your students when they take part in the CREST Bronze award, and get your students to take part in our Meet the future you quiz
